The Concept
Director d'Atelier's artistic vision of this surreal-looking suit is a simple lighting exercise. The problem: How to recreate a film-caliber, photo-real computer animation.
The Approach
A metaphor for the modern epidemic doctors, this scene is all about death, how uncomfortable it makes us feel, and SD wanted to tap into that. He wanted to craft a place where texture, light, and color are characters not dispurveyed of a story, evoking a sense of dread and suffocation, drawing the viewer so subtly to wonder about his or her mortality. The resulting experience is mysterious like its subject.
The Treatment
This scene is using the full-spectrum of Corona's multi-scattering capabilities⏤It was exciting to see the way Corona renderer deals with color spaces.
